I had nothing......
When i first started out making music, i had nothing except a laptop, a pen and a pad! That was it. Although really, that's all you need to start with! (And an idea of course)
I had never written a song or made any music, let alone know where to start!
I was going through a rough time so i sat in a quiet room with my pen and pad and just wrote down what i was feeling at that time. Once i started to write i couldn't stop so i just went with it. Don't be scared of what comes out, at that point it is just between you and the paper, no one else has seen it or heard it.
At the point of writing furiously on the paper i wasn't trying to put it into a song because too much was coming out for me to think of that.
Once i couldn't write any more, i read through what i had written and picked out the main points. I wrote the main points down again and then used those to shape the song.
Once i had written the song i then wanted to get straight on to the music. I downloaded free demo's of loads of different software products. The best one i came across was Mix-craft 5. It is brilliant and so easy to use!
I used it in the demo version for a while to make sure it was 'the one'. Once i knew it was the one to use i bought the full version which cost around £50 i think. I installed that on my laptop and then used that and never looked back!
I then made the music for my first song. It took absolutely ages as i didn't have a clue what i was doing, but i stuck with it and got it done!
Stay tuned for more..............
